Dear Emi,
the Fifty People One Question project makes me very happy:
Fifty People, One Question: Brooklyn from Crush & Lovely on Vimeo.
My answer would have to be: the same as today: very early, right next to Tommi with caffeine withdrawal symptoms.

Coat
Dear Emi,
I wonder if this look is on sale right now because it's the only thing I wanna wear:

For some odd reason I'm really into these fuzzy rockstar groupie looks at the moment. Emmanuelle Alt, on the other hand, will remain my imaginary best friend beyond trends.

Dear Emi,
sorry to have kept you waiting for glamorous pictures of my xmas eve outfit - I ended up wearing my sister's way too short sweatpants and a secondhand sweater to dinner. I just couldn't bring myself to shower and dress up after all the cleaning, cooking, work stuff etc. Plus I was able to eat much more efficiently with an elastic waist.
No pictures of that nor my little sister singing in the angel choir nor all the cool presents I got because the battery died before the camera even arrived at the house.
So my resolution for the new year will be to try and focus on the blog and actually do some of the stuff I plan to.

Beads Me
Dear Emi,
jewel tones and oriental shapes as seen on Andrew Gn Atelier s/s 09 inspire me in deciding what to wear for Xmas dinner:
They remind of Dori Csengeri, which is a good thing. Thank goodness for being half Yemenese and therefore having unlimited access to beads.

Bag News III (Love Can Be Bought and It's Relatively Affordable)
Dear Emi,
nevermind the Manhattan. At least for the month, since all my money went into this baby:
Yes, it's the latest Adidas by Stella McCartney gym bag and I'm happy to report it makes getting oneself to a 7 a.m. spinning that much easier. I'll be the first to shamelessly admit that buying pretty crap makes long hours at the office, endless to-do lists, making everybody else but yourself happy, sickness and death, if not tolerable, then at least a little less painful. Plus, it's quite functional and made of 100 % recycled paper.

One in a Meal
Dear Emi,
I may or may not be known to eat breakfast for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Give me oatmeal, egg on toast or yogurt and blueberries over soup, salad and steak anyday, all day.
I'm happy to announce that I am not alone. Jen of Simply Breakfast has taken her love for the morning meal to another level: her second book, More Please, is out! It's a follow-up to last year's The Art of Breakfast.
My all-time favorite breakfast, as served July 2, 2008:

The apricots get me every time!

'Tis the Season to Consume
Dear Emi,I'm mostly done with Xmas shopping but a little browsing never hurt anyone, right? This weekend I'm finally headed to check out Helsinki 10's (open til the 23rd!) and We Got Beef's displays, although the two are expected to overlap.
I deteste Xmas food, can't stand epileptic lights, have no snow to play in, so that pretty much leaves me with madly buying crap-ola for people who don't need anything (and going to church to sing carols).
Thank Baby Jesus for tax refund,
Koko.
Rockin' Stockings
Dear Emi,
nothing makes you anticipate New Year's Eve more than a pair of black Betsey Johnson pantyhose with hearts on them.
In addition to them, all I'm missing is an invitation to a cat and/or dog free party zone.

Hot Yoga Is Cool!
Dear Emi,I'm happy to announce that wish n:o 3 may be checked off my xmas list. After a long week I decided to treat myself to something unforgettable and went on a 90 minute, 40 degree excursion to find the limits of my body.
They were mostly situated in the area of my hamstrings (who knew running 700+ kms in one summer without stretching once is a bad idea).
Bikram yoga was extreme and exciting, yet very calming and familiar, much like running to the Gaza strip and back with my uncle. Afterwards I felt just as good as I did every wednesday in elementary school, after my ballet class: very happy with myself and my body.
Plus, I got to post a pick of the awesome Bill Cosby lookalike yoga guru that I found here.
Ommmmmmmmmmm,
Koko.

061208
Dear Emi,today is the Finnish Independence Day. I'm gonna watch hillbilly politicians and pop idols attend the President's party on TV and eat some smoked salmon off of my Birger Kaipiainen plates.
I may also re-read a few pages of this year's Finlandia literary prize winner Sofi Oksanen's book, Puhdistus.
I can't do more "Finland" in one day, there's a limit to everything.

Xmas musings
Dear Emi,
I'm almost finished with xmas shopping, just a few odds and ends here and there. Since almost everybody I'll be offering gifts to this year is reading the blog, I can't show you what I've gotten them. Instead, I'm presenting you with my dream list:
1. New spring outfits from Chloé (collage stolen from Eleonore):

2. A trip to Paris for my 25th b-day:

3. A gift card to a bikram yoga course:

4. An evening of pleasures (Othello at the National Theatre and dinner, a small vorschmack, at Sea Horse):
5. Sleeping.
I think that's all,
Koko.
